How this place fits into a Crete day
At Agiofarago, the journey is part of the experience. The gorge passes former hermit caves and the chapel of Agios Antonios before opening onto the Libyan Sea. If you enjoy a walk that brings landscape and history together, there is more here than a beach view. The beach has no road access: the walk or a suitable arrival from the sea must fit your day.

More about this place
Agiofarago combines a gorge walk, history and a remote beach on the Libyan Sea. Caves in the rock walls were once used by hermits, and the chapel of Agios Antonios stands shortly before the water. The approach is therefore more than a way of reaching another beach.
The sea is reached on foot through the gorge or, where a suitable connection exists, from the water. There is no vehicle access to the beach. The approach road may be unpaved, and neither its current condition nor the legal status of places to leave a car is universally confirmed. Do not mistake the destination coordinate for a suitable car park.
Agiofarago suits a deliberate combination of landscape, religious history and time by the sea. Start outside the hottest hours, bring water and allow for the return walk. Respect the chapel as a religious site and check sea conditions before swimming.
