Research. Verify. Contextualise. Keep current.
A place does not become valuable because it sounds secret. It becomes valuable when we understand what is actually supported, who it suits, what role it can play in a day — and what may have changed since the last review.
1. Research — find signals, do not automate truth
We research places, access, conditions and relevant travel information using appropriate sources and editorial knowledge. Automated research or AI may help structure signals and surface contradictions.
A research signal is not yet published truth. Editorial responsibility for published content sits with Michal Pesta.
2. Verify — separate facts, judgement and changeable reality
- • Supported facts are published only as precisely as the available evidence allows.
- • Editorial judgements — such as character, when a place tends to work best in a day or who may particularly enjoy it — remain judgement rather than being presented as objective measurements.
- • Changeable realities such as road condition, parking, opening hours, wind or local rules remain visibly changeable.
- • Where we do not have sufficiently reliable evidence, we do not invent a number or certainty.
3. Contextualise — turn a place into a useful decision
CRETE UNSEEN does not stop at whether a place is worth seeing. We look at when it fits a day, what travel and time it requires, which conditions matter and what other places sensibly connect to it.
The result is not a ranking of the 'best' places. It is a stronger foundation for deciding which place makes sense for a particular Crete day.
4. Famous or simply a better fit
Well-known places are not downgraded merely for being famous. A less obvious alternative may only be preferred when editorial review has approved it as genuinely comparable for the role and it fits your day better.
- • The classic stays visible and remains planable.
- • An alternative must be honestly comparable for the role — not merely less famous.
- • You may choose the alternative, the classic or both when the day can sensibly support it.
- • If there is no honest equivalent, we do not invent one.
5. Keep current — review dates instead of false real-time certainty
Public guide and place pages show when content was last reviewed editorially. That means the published state was checked against the available evidence and for internal consistency at that time.
It does not mean nothing on site can have changed since. Signs, barriers, official warnings and local rules always take precedence.
Corrections are part of the quality model
If something appears outdated or wrong, send the detail to hello@creteunseen.com. Reports are reviewed manually and never change published content automatically.
Our quality goal is not maximum content volume. It is a clear separation between supported knowledge, editorial context and realities that can change.
