How this place fits into a Crete day
Maridati is the sort of cove for people who do not immediately panic at the final narrow turn and think, ‘This cannot possibly be right.’ Less infrastructure and less convenience buy you a smaller, quieter coastal stop with rocky edges that make snorkelling more interesting. That friction is exactly why it suits some days and is unnecessary on others.

More about this place
Maridati sits away from the easier beach stops around Palekastro. The narrower approach makes it clear that this cove is not for every kind of day. Parking opportunities and services are limited; if you want sunbeds, plenty of dining choices and a wide access road, this may not be your place.
Maridati is more appealing when you prefer a smaller stretch of coast and enjoy exploring rocky areas with a mask and snorkel. It need not become the main event of the day. It can fit well when you are already in the Palekastro area and have time for a quiet stop.
Check the wind and sea conditions before making the detour. The final stretch of road deserves attention too: it is narrow, with limited room to turn around. If tight roads make you hear your hire-car agreement in your head, that is a perfectly useful signal.
Maridati can also be skipped. If the morning has run long or conditions have changed, a rushed arrival will not make the cove any better. A good trip is not a competition to visit every saved pin.
