How this place fits into a Crete day
Erofili gives a Lasithi Plateau outing a reason to linger over lunch: a family taverna in Tzermiado, regional cooking and a shaded courtyard. The house traces its history back to 1941. If you are coming for a particular dish or planning lunch around a fixed time, confirm the menu and opening directly beforehand.

More about this place
Erofili stands in the centre of Tzermiado and, by its own account, has been part of the Lasithi Plateau's food scene since 1941. The fourth generation now runs the family taverna. On a plateau day, it is a place to combine a meal with a village walk rather than merely grab something between drives.
The house describes its cooking as traditional and regional: meat and dairy from the area, vegetables from its garden, and dishes such as slow-roasted suckling pig, goat with tomato, stuffed vegetables and local cheese. It also lists its own organically produced house wine. If a particular dish matters to you, ask what is actually on the menu for your visit.
A shaded courtyard provides a setting for a longer meal. Reach Tzermiado by the normal paved plateau road, then make the final approach on foot in the village centre. A long family history does not guarantee today's opening or table availability.
