More about this place

Ancient Syvritos occupied Kefala hill near Thronos in the Amari valley. The regional source documents the site and notes coin finds held in Rethymno’s museum. A visit concerns surviving traces and the town’s setting, not a reconstructed monumental complex.

It suits travellers who want to deepen an Amari outing and take an interest in the landscape around the ruins. It is less suitable when you want an instantly legible spectacle without preparation. History here rewards a closer look rather than a grand entrance.

The permitted visitor approach from Thronos and current access arrangements still need confirmation. Do not rely on undated standard opening hours. Allow daylight, suitable footwear and drinking water. An elevated viewpoint is not automatically a verified sunset stop with a safe return route.

This update is based on source research, not a new on-site visit.
